Carolyn falls at Beech’s
On 10 June just under 2,000 runners took to the Chelmsford streets to take part in the 5K Race for Business – organised by solicitors Wollastons 10 years ago, to benefit local charities - this year was Farleigh Hospice.
Pictured above: Bird Luckin admin manager, Carolyn Finch, organiser of this year’s BL team of 19 runners. Having sustained an Achilles’ tendon injury was ground to a halt in Beeches Road!
Managing Director, Ian Plunkett (pictured below), had set himself up for a target this year having recently told BBC Essex that his aim was to get around the course in 30 minutes. And despite sustaining an injury before the race, which meant he was unable to do any specific training, he did achieve what he set out to do and finished with a commendable 0.30.41!
As predicted by Ian in his interview with BBC Essex he was beaten by some of the younger members of the team and some not quite so young! Alex Young came in with a cracking time of 20.50 finishing in 35th place. With a hot contest for the next Bird Luckin runners to finish James Boustead and Jack Hollyman sprinted to the finishing line in 25.05 and 25.09 respectively. And BL’s first female home, Sam Parker came storming in with 26.20 – well done to Sam.
Marathon runner and fellow director, Kevin Thomas, pipped Ian to the post in a time of 29.50.
As a team Bird Luckin came 40th out of 454 teams – we did however come first for sporting the largest team of 19 Accountants (pictured below)!
