Tree dedication in memory of Ian
Colleagues, friends and family of Ian Hart, a hugely valued member of the Bird Luckin team who died suddenly in December last year, gathered at our Aquila House recently to plant a tree in Ian’s memory.
Ian, who would have been 32 on Saturday (19 November), was an Audit Manager at our Chelmsford office, and joined the team in 1999; he was an incredibly popular character, a really respected member of the team, as well as a passionate Chelmsford City fan who was well known at the football club.
We have planted an ornamental pear tree (a Pyrus calleryana Chanticleer) at Aquila House in memory of Ian. The tree, which has a dedication plaque at its base, will grow to an ultimate height of 20ft over the next 20 years, bearing masses of brilliant white flowers in spring, and green leaves turning shades of orange and red in autumn.
The planting ceremony took place in bright sunshine, and afterwards members of the BL team joined Ian’s family and friends for lunch, and to share memories of Ian, who continues to be greatly missed.
